The PADI Divemaster course is your introduction to professional diving training.


The recreational diving community expects certain characteristics from a person who has achieved PADI's Divemaster level. Which includes:

  • Exemplary diving skills
  • Rescue skills
  • Knowledge of diving theory at a professional level
  • Competence as a 'certified assistant'
  • Skills in diving management and supervision
  • Exemplary, ethical behavior
  • Enthusiasm and fun

As you probably know, many PADI Divemasters continue their PADI Instructor training. You will benefit directly from the training and experience you receive during the PADI Divemaster course on your way to becoming a professional diving instructor. And to support you in the first phase of your career as a professional diving professional, PADI has developed various training tools such as the Divemaster Crew Pack.

As a PADI Divemaster, you are authorized to:

  1. Plan, conduct and supervise land and boat based diving activities
  2. Assist PADI Instructors in conducting PADI programs

To take the PADI Divemaster course, you must:

  1. Be certified (or equivalent) as a PADI Advanced Open Water Dive
  2. Be certified (or equivalent) as a PADI Rescue Diver
  3. Prove at least 40 dives in your personal logbook at the beginning of the course. Proof of 60 dives is the certification requirement
  4. Be at least 18 years old at the start of the course
  5. Present the instructor with a certificate signed by a doctor confirming that you are fit for scuba diving

Your Divemaster training consists of the following three modules:

1. Aquatic fitness and diving skills

  • Water suitability and endurance
  • Demonstration quality diving skills
  • Rescue skills

2. Development of theoretical knowledge

  • Role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster
  • The supervision of diving activities for certified divers
  • Assisting in the training of divers
  • Introduction to diving theory
  • Diving physics
  • Diving physiology
  • Diving equipment
  • Decompression Theory and the RDP
  • Programs that can be carried out independently by the Divemaster
  • Risk management
  • Diving as a business
  • Your diving career

3. Practical application

  • Making an underwater map
  • Program that can be carried out by the Divemaster
  • Training internship, option 1: Accompanying real diving courses
  • Ausbildungssimulationen, Option 2: Rollenspiele

As a PADI Divemaster you will be able to:

  1. Assisting a PADI Instructor as a certified assistant
  2. Supervise participants in PADI courses and programs
  3. Exercise general supervision of educational and non-educational diving activities
  4. To train and certify PADI Skin Diver
  5. Conduct the PADI Scuba Review Program for Certified Divers
  6. Take PADI Instructor Development courses

After successfully completing the PADI Divemaster course, you will receive a certification card and a wall certificate. With this certification you also become a member of PADI. Membership benefits include: subscription to PADI's “The Undersea Journal”, membership prices for certain PADI materials and services, and the option to take out professional liability insurance.

The course can be started individually at any time, duration at least 3-4 weeks
Price includes all training dives on the beach, 2 boat days (4-6 dives), equipment (your own equipment is recommended, but not mandatory), use of the classroom and pool at any time, permanent theoretical and practical support from our instructors, divemaster crew pack in their own language, certification
